The Practical Driving Test lasts approximately 35 minutes and is conducted from your local driving test centre by a DSA examiner. The examiner first asks you to check some maintenance items on the car before preceding to asses your ability to drive competently and safely and tests you on most of the topics you have covered in your lessons. Straight after the exam the examiner will give you your result.
You must arrive in good time and have your provisional licence and theory test certificate with you. You must also bring your passport if you don't have a photo card licence. Remember...... the new photo licence is made up of 2 parts, Photo Card and paper counterpart; you must bring BOTH parts when attending the test. You will sit in the waiting room until the DSA examiner calls out your name and asks you to sign the insurance declaration form. The examiner will check all of your documents and ask you to lead the way out to the vehicle. Before entering the car you will be asked to read a vehicle registration plate from approx 67ft/20.5m. You will also be asked 2 questions from the "Show Me - Tell Me" sheet. Once in the car the examiner will give you instructions on what he/she requires you to do during the test.
The test will last approx 40 mins and you will be tested on your driving ability. During the test you will be asked to carry out several manoeuvres and may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop. At the end of the test the examiner will give you the result and offer you a briefing on the test. You may want your instructor present during the briefing.
